Peak 1 & Peak 2

Following an old road up into an obscure drainage, we picked up game trails that gained and followed a crest to the summit of Peak 1. Primarily a minor peak on the way to the big objective, this easy hike offers astounding views of a seldom (read: never) visited area of the park.

From the summit, we dropped down and continued along the crest, occasionally encountering class 2-3 terrain. Soon, we approached the classic, big face of the day's showpiece, Peak 2.

Gaining a ledge/ramp system that worked the face, we found that intricate route-finding in places could piece the route together as a scramble (with several low 5th class obstacles along the way). Soon enough, a short 5.2 face yielded the flattish summit and its marginal views.
