Approaching Mount Tom from near the Horton Lake Trailhead

After a spring 2005 failed attempt of the super long and tedious north ridge of Mount Tom in horrible snow conditions, I returned with Hugh de Q for a slog up the mellow other side. With Tom having a roundtrip of 16 miles and 6,000 feet of gain (we started 600 vertical feet below the trailhead), it was an enjoyable day of exercise...and I even got in a bonus peak, climbing the enjoyable class 3-4 south ridge of "Hanging Valley Peak" on the way back.
