It's always a pleasure to get out with Harlan Stockman, so I was suitably excited to be joining him in the mountains for the first day of the new year.
This day's endeavor would be one of a host of obscure and remote named peaks deep in the backcountry of Lake Mead National Recreation Area. With a roundtrip of about 20 miles (well over half of which I did on mountain bike while Harlan jogged), it was an enjoyable day out.
The views from the objective, Boulder Peak, were quite good...though we had perhaps more fun on a minor, unnamed bonus peak we did on the way out. I dubbed the bonus peak "Harlan Peak".
Here's Harlan's write-up and photos.
