With Dow Williams and Bo Beck, we explored rumors of a possible alternate route up this named peak that would get rid of the 17-mile roundtrip effort the maintained trail requires.
Our route went like a charm. Steep, sustained, exposed slabs, traverses on loose catwalks and a bit of 4th class (or very easy 5th class) face climbing put us on the summit plateau. From there, a short walk to the summit, stepping past a semi-fresh mountain lion kill along the way.
Terrific views of East Temple, Twin Brothers and Mountain of the Sun from up there.
