As a snowstorm rolled in, I set off alone for a couple bonus peaks before heading home for the weekend. Following a worn elk trail from the south all the way to the snowy summit of Windy Peak, clouds rolled in and the wind picked up. I then dropped down the east slope of the peak, crossed the road, and started up Pocket Mesa.
The entirely approach to Pocket Mesa was through deep snow. The final class 2-3 scramble to the summit proved short but interesting. I was soaking and frozen by the time I returned to the vehicle an hour after setting out.
