I don't remember who suggested Elephant Butte to me. It might have been Scott Patterson, it might have been Ram...it might have been someone else. Regardless, DB and I set out one September morning for a climb of this, the highest point in Utah's Arches National Park.
With a touch of route-finding near the beginning, we eventually had a blast piecing this fun and meandering route together. Reaching the summit, we enjoyed the views over to the La Sals and elsewhere.
On our descent, we made a nice rappel or two down to an easy walking canyon that dumped us off not far from our vehicle.
