North Macks Peak, Better Than Expected

Where: Spring Mountains, Nevada
When: August 2008
Partners: DB
Route: Northeast Ridge via Bristlecone Slab (5.2)

North Macks Peak

North Macks Peak is a marginal subpeak of Macks Peak. Fortunately, it makes up for its lack of prominence with a nice route.

Making the short approach one morning, DB and I swung around to the northeast side of the peak and picked up a 200-foot 5.2 limestone slab studded with bristlecones. Quality scrambling up the slab landed us on the northeast ridge at an exposed notch. From there, sweet scrambling along an exposed knife-edge took us to the summit! Nice route!
