Mount Sherman (14,036 feet)

When: August 2006
Partners: Donnie B
Route: Iowa Gulch (Class 1)
Mileage/Gain: 5/2,400

After heading over one January weekend for a rushed couple days of ice climbing, a friend and I drove over in the summer of 2006 to tackle a few more of the 14ers. I enjoyed my first trip the previous summer and was anxious to see more of the state.

Warming up with Mount Sherman, my buddy got his first taste of the Colorado mountains. We weren't alone, as we enjoyed the summit with at least thirty other people and their various dogs.

After the easy hike up Sherman, we returned to the trailhead and headed over Independence Pass and on through Aspen for a go at Capitol Peak the next day.
